Chief Michael Bailey is responsible for the overall function of the police department.
The Lieutenants administer the three divisions of the Department, Patrol, Administrative and Support Services.

The Patrol Lieutenant, Lt Art Adams, supervises the Patrol Division, the most visible portion of the police department, with 20 police officers. The Patrol Division is responsible for the initial response to reports of medical emergencies, accidents, fires and crimes. Lt Adams can be reached at (908) 876-8305.
The Administrative Lieutenant, Lt Mark Niemynski is the liaison to the Municipal Court and Prosecutor, the contact person for the Municipal Alliance, the Schools, the Division of Child Protection, MC Communications and outside contractors. The Support Services Lieutenant, Lt Douglas Compton, supervises the Support Services Division, composed of the Traffic Bureau, Detective Bureau and Records Bureau. This is the smallest portion of the police department. Additionally the Support Services Lieutenant oversees impounds, fleet, training and discovery requests. Police Communications is managed by the County of Morris Dispatch Center.
