Hacklebarney State Park is a 465 acre park in a wooded area dominated by Eastern Hemlock, with areas of mixed oak-hardwood forest and other young trees. There are a number of ravines bordering the Black River, an excellent trout stocked river. Additionally, there are two wild trout streams at the park, the Trout Brook ad the Rinehart Brook. Check with the Division of Fish and Wildlife for rules related to hunting and fishing.

The park has 5 miles of hiking trails that vary in difficulty. There are picnic areas at the park, which are on a first come first served basis.
